Import BizTalk Configuration Data

The ability to import and export configuration data is an administration function key to any enterprise solution environment. BizTalk Utilities meets this need by providing separate import and export components that facilitate the management of both BizTalk Utilities and BizTalk Server configuration settings.

Described below are the import components. To learn more about the export components, visit Export BizTalk Configuration Data.

How it works

The diagram below shows how previously exported configuration data is pulled into the BizTalk environment using BizTalk Utilities.

BizTalk Utilities provides two separate Wizards that manage the importing of configuration settings:

1.      The first is the BizTalk Utilities Import Configuration Wizard. It reduces the import process to two easy steps. As shown below, you are simply asked to select the configuration file, and choose whether or not to replace existing settings. The actual import is then accomplished with the click of a button.

2.      As with the Import Configuration Wizard, the BizTalk Utilities Import BizTalk Configuration Wizard simplifies the importing process of BizTalk server configuration data. The dialog box displayed here illustrates the feedback provided by the Wizard, as it processes the configuration file.

Summary

Whether you are using these Wizards to re-deploy BizTalk environments, or to restore solutions to a previous state, being able to control configuration with the ease provided by BizTalk Utilities streamlines overall administration, and allows for a cost-effective backup/restore process.
