Export BizTalk Configuration Data

The ability to import and export configuration data is an administration function key to any enterprise solution environment. BizTalk Utilities meets this need by providing separate import and export components that facilitate the management of both BizTalk Utilities and BizTalk Server configuration settings.

Described below are the export components. To learn more about the import components, visit Import BizTalk Configuration Data.

How it works

The flow diagram below simply illustrates how BizTalk Utilities allows for the export of configuration information:

Two separate BizTalk Utilities components enable the exporting of configuration settings:

1.      The BizTalk Utilities Export Wizard provides a simple set of dialog boxes that guide you through the steps of exporting select configuration data for your BizTalk Utilities components. The image below displays one of the sample screens:

2.      Configuration settings for BizTalk Server can be exported using the Export BizTalk Configuration Wizard. Through a step-by-step process, similar to the one described for the previous component, you are able to output configuration settings for channels, envelopes, and receive functions. As shown in the following illustration, the Wizard even allows you to identify exactly which parts of the BizTalk environment you want included in your configuration file.

Summary

Being able to export configuration information for both your core BizTalk Server environment, as well as the parts of it extended by the numerous BizTalk Utilities components, is important . It can assist with the re-deployment of BizTalk solutions, but, more importantly, is a critical part of any disaster recovery plan.
