BizTalk and Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft’s Web Storage System extends the Exchange Server’s feature set into the realm of knowledge management. Accessed using the WebDAV protocol, interoperability can be achieved between BizTalk Server and Web Storage System repositories. BizTalk Utilities provides an intelligent extension to this environment by supplying a Receive Function specifically designed for the Web Storage System environment.

How it works

The diagram below explains how the BizTalk Utilities Receive Function automatically forwards messages received by the Web Storage System to the BizTalk Server:

A Web Storage System Receive Function Wizard is provided to allow for the configuration of the Receive Function. The dialog box below, for example, shows the how the Web Storage System folder (from which the Receive Function will retrieve files) is defined. Note the last field which allows you to determine which parts of the Exchange message will be forwarded. The options are Attachments, Content (the message body), or File. When “File” is chosen, the message in its entirety is treated as a file.

A subsequent step in the configuration process allows for the addition of processing criteria. Using WebDAV query syntax, you can add a statement that filters out unwanted messages.

Summary

This, one of the more sophisticated Receive Functions provided by BizTalk Utilities, enables seamless integration between BizTalk Server and the Web Storage System.
