BizTalk and SAP
The BizTalk
Utilities SAP Connector establishes a central BizTalk-SAP integration
architecture. Fuelled by a family of back- and front-end components, the
connector creates an effective bridge between the BizTalk and SAP environments.
How it works
The role of BizTalk
Utilities Connector components are demonstrated in the following diagram.
The BizTalk
Utilities SAP Connector is strategically positioned to interface with
BizTalk Server and corresponding SAP components. The connector supports
integration with two types of SAP interfaces:
1. Remote Function Calls (RFC). To learn
more about how the connector interfaces with SAP RFCs, read through the “BizTalk
Utilities and SAP RFC” page. Below is a sample screen showing how
components are maintained using the same integrated front-end (the MMC or
Microsoft Management Console) used to manage BizTalk Server itself.
2. SAP IDocs. To learn more about how the
connector’s support for SAP IDocs, go to the “BizTalk
Utilities and SAP IDocs”
page. As an example, the following screen shot demonstrates how schemas for
BizTalk-to-IDocs communication are created using the BizTalk Editor.
The Connector
back-end components are complemented by a set of front-end administration
user-interfaces. Sample screen shots for most user-interfaces are provided in
the BizTalk
Utilities SAP documentation. Visit the “BizTalk
Utilities and SAP
IDocs Schemas” page for a closer look at the maintenance UIs used to administer
schema files for incoming and outgoing messages. Shown here is a sample screen
shot of the MMC front-end used to access schema information.
