BizTalk and XSD
The feature set provided by BizTalk
Utilities goes beyond the runtime environment of BizTalk solutions. Among the
design extensions it supplies, is a convenient import utility for XSD schemas.
How it works
How this part of BizTalk
Utilities integrates itself with the BizTalk Editor is shown in the following diagram:
BizTalk
Utilities essentially adds an import module that you can access
directly from within the BizTalk Editor. Once launched, this utility allows you
to assign a target namespace to the schema by specifying a URI or selecting one
of the available root Types.
The sample screen shots provided below show the simple three-step process to
importing an XSD schema. Once the namespace has been established, the schema
contents are displayed in the BizTalk Editor.
Summary
More and more development
environments are natively incorporating the use of XSD Schemas, propelling this
standard into the IT mainstream. The ability to easily import XSD Schemas into
BizTalk Editor is another example of how BizTalk
Utilities adds important and
useful functions to BizTalk solution environments.
