Each XML file contains a XML declaration tag. When reading through the XML file with the XmlTextReader class, the cursor starts at the xml declaration. Usually you don't need the declaration in your output. Two options are available to get rid of the xml declaration:

  • Use the Read() method to read the declaration and do nothing
  • Use the MoveToContent() method which will move to the root node.
