Anet XML Search Engine is a tool for developers, who want to enrich their applications with the feature of full text retrieval in very large volumes of text files and database records. The significant speed of searching is based on the operations with preliminary created index files. Index file contains all words and their positions in the source files (pages). The addresses (path, URL, etc) of the source files are also stored in the index file. AXSE contains a built-in plain text, HTML and XML parser, therefore the source texts can be plain, HTML or XML formatted. A programmer can also use an external parser to search in files of other formats.

Anet Search Engine provides the following types of searching:

• search by word

• search by phrase

•  search by date range

•  search by portions (not in the entire index, but in preliminary defined portions)

•  boolean operations (AND, OR, NOT)

•  proximity search (NEAR)

•  indexing of dates and search in dates range

• searching in elements inside XML formatted texts

It is also featured with:

• enhanced indexing speed

• partial or complete index update

• HTML and XML support

• optionally tagging the found words in HTML and XML files

• database connectivity

• multilanguage support (user-defined charset)

• removing noise words from the search query with stop-words - words that has to be ignored when processing a search query and creating index files.

Introduction to the Anet Search Engine Anet Seach Engine presented in this package consists of two major components: 1. Srch32_d.dll + Parsers.dll - the kernel libraries with indexing and search capabilities implemented 2. AXmlSrchC.dll - component that provides COM interface to the search engine and enables developers to use the engine in multithreading mode. While the kernel libraries have their own API and can be used separately (please read documentation Search32XMLAPI.doc) we recommend to work with the search engine through AXmlSrchC.dll.
