I am trying to setup a basic Biztalk solution using the sql adapter 2.0 and the SSO  functionality - but I am hitting problems that I can't get past...

My Setup:

a receive -> transform (via map in orchestration) -> send using the Biztalk utilities SQL adapter on both sides.

I initally set this up without using SSO and it is works perfectly - I'm now trying to change this to use SSO but hitting errors.

I have setup an affiliate application (TestApp) and a mapping to the exact same connection string etc - but I'm not 100% sure that I got the settings right.

In the adapters, I blanked out the connection string and provider and chose my Affiliate application.

My Affiliate Application and Mapping is created using the Biztalk Utilities Snap In. I more or less chose the default values for the application except I made it:-
"application enabled = true",
"local accounts allowed = false",
"tickets allowed = true"

When I created the mapping I tested the connection and it was successful but I don't think that it is getting that far because when I start the receive adapter I get the following message:-

SSO AUDIT
Function: GetExternalCredentials
Tracking ID: 31e1b393-116f-4bdc-80a8-04f6bab66532
Client Computer: server1.testdomain(BTSNTSvc.exe:1096)
Client User: testdomain\btsHostInstAcct
Application Name: TestApp
Error Code: 0xC0002A04, The application does not exist.

Out of curiousity, I decided to delete the affiliate app to see if it would give the same message and it did - so for whatever reason, the Affiliate Application is not being found!

In the mapping, I was unsure what to put for Windows Credential and External Credential, so I just added my user account for both (as a test) because I know that my user account has access to the database.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because it is really important that we get SSO up and running with the Biztalk Utilities for databases adapters.

Many Thanks
Andy

Would it be possible to tell us the version of the Adapter and also the version of BTS?

Which MMC command did you use to create the affiliate application?

I've got it to work by making both the "external user" and the "windows user" in the mapping the Biztalk Host Instance Service account.

The Host Instance Service account is also an "application user" for the affiliate application.

Is this the correct approach ? Is this secure ?

Thanks
Andy
