Oracle Alert Dropped - Please Help! - 2 February 2007

Hi all:

Ref: BizTalk Server 2006 with BizTalk Utilities Adapter for Databases Version 4.0.0/BizTalk Utilities Version 2.1.2

We are having issues with the BizTalk Utilities Adapter for Databases Oracle Alerts Transport dropping or not receiving all Oracle alerts during testing. The test scenario is simple: we insert records into an Oracle table configured with a trigger to fire the Oracle alerts via dbms_alert.signal(), just like the tutorial document.

- Test #1: insert 1 record every 5 seconds continuously - Passed. All Oracle alerts were received and processed.
- Test #2: insert 1 record every 4 seconds continuously - Failed. A total of 116 records were inserted, but only 91 alerts were received.

The tests went down hill from there for any interval less than 4 seconds. One interesting thing was that if we sent a batch of inserts say 2, 3, 4, or 5 records at a time, only one alert was received and it was almost always the last record of the batch. We knew the trigger fired the alerts properly since we recorded to the audit table after the alert was fired.

Does anyone have the same issue? As you can see, capturing 1 alert in 5 seconds is definitely not an acceptable standard. Is there anything we have to twist to prevent the adapter from dropping the alerts? Please help.

Thanks,

Tom
