Oracle Alerts Question - 16 January 2007

Hi all, I've created an Oracle Alerts project based on the HR.JOBS sample shown on this website. My project will be very similar, I need a trigger when a row is inserted in an Oracle table, and I need BizTalk to receive the id of that new row and then query the row from the database. At this point it will need to generate an email but that's the easy part. I have the project deployed and my trigger out in my Oracle table, but am not seeing any activity when a row is inserted on the table (i.e. no "BizTalk Utilities Adapter for Databases Oracle Alerts Receiver" information events in the event log). I have tested the dbms_alert.signal package in the database using the trigger info I configured and it executes without incident. I can't tell whether BizTalk is just not receiving the info or if it is just ignoring it. Does any one have an idea where I can start troubleshooting? Thanks in advance

Would it be possible to tell us which version of the Adapter you are currently using?

Hi Pieter thanks for your quick reply. The version we are using is 3.1.3. We've had to roll back from 4.0.4 because of issues 4.0.4 was causing in our environment.

One of the people here on our team is working with you on the issue with the database adapter polling, calling a stored procedure. It returns an error that the assemblies need to be deployed, but they are both deployed and gac'd.

Can you please explain more? Are the property schemas correctly deployed for the Adapter?

Hi Pieter, You are working with Pieter Hummel on an issue with the 4.0.4 adapter. The post is titled Error: BizTalk Utilities Adapter for Databases Receiver - 4 January 2007 It is the receive adapter that is set up to poll or call a stored procedure at a specified interval. He has sent the port info and table layouts and stored proc to you to set up to verify the problem. Is the issue Brian Rupert is seeing been fixed in a new release or have you seen this issue before? thanks Karen

Hi Pieter, I just deployed to the database the BTSUtils.Adapters.Databases.Properties schema and the BTSUtils.Adapters.Databases.Oracle.Pipes.Properties property schema. The BTSUtils.Adapters.Databases.Oracle.Alerts.Properties schema was deployed previously to the database. Are there any additional property schemas that need to be deployed?? thanks Karen

We tested the issue on our side with 4.0.4 on our side with your exact configuration. It worked without any issues. The only issue we could see with the config was that a very old ODP.NET Provider was used. We need to know what version of ODP.NET you have installed on the BTS machine. I have sent mail requesting this.

Would it be possible to send your solution tosupport@theenablergroup.com? We want to place it into our Test Environment to make sure things are working on the Adapter side.

Hi, I've sent the files as requested including the oracle table ddl. Please let me know if you don't receive them, our firewall might not let it through. Thanks.

This sounds like the Sql Server is not available.

Pieter, thanks for your reply. We have since had the updated adapters deployed and I am now receiving the Oracle Alerts. I am having a problem with my schema though, I am getting the message: There was a failure executing the receive pipeline: "UnionGas.CARE.WBTMessage.BizTalk.CAREOracleAlertsMessageID" Source: "Flat file disassembler" Receive Location: "oraclealert://Microsoft .NET Data Provider for Oracle/CARE.CARE_EMAIL_ALERT.INSERT" Reason: Unexpected data found while looking for: '|' The current definition being parsed is CAEOracleAlert. The stream offset where the error occured is 0. The line number where the error occured is 1. The column where the error occured is 0. I've modelled my flat file schema after the sample for JobsMessage.xsd. I'm not really sure what the incoming file looks like from Oracle. Would you be able to assist? PS - the JobsMessage.xsd has the same problem when you try to validate an instance of it. Thanks in advance, Brian
