I am getting the following error when creating my pop3 receive location:

Address should be unique.
Addrewss 'pop3://...." is already present for <Receive Location - POP3 Receive Location> Refresh and try again.

I have another BizTalk solution that uses a the same POP3 account, is this not allowed? For us it makes sense to use 1 single POP3 address for all BizTalk solutions.

This is a limitation imposed by BizTalk. Yu only need a single receive location, otherwse they will cause locking issues on the mailbox.

Ok thanks Pieter that makes sense.

Currently the one that I have in our production enrionment has a filtering criteria value set in the Criteria Wizard. Can you tell me is using the Criteria Wizard a requirement, or is the receive shape filter in the various orchestrations enough to decide which solutions process a particular email?

You can also use the Orch filters, bu remember that all messages in the mailbox will then be picked up, even ones that you don't want.
