lfbarbieri -> Uninstall of SAP Adapter (24 March 2006)

Hi all

I am trying to uninstall the SAP adapter (Version 4.0.3) and get the following error message:
"Unable to get installer types in the c:\program files\biztalk utilities\sap adapter\bin\btsutils.adapters.sap.transactions.dll assembly. --> One of more of the types in the assembly unable to load."

I was able to uninstall Utilities and Messaging adapter previously without problem.
I have tried a reboot, stopping BizTalk.
I have no suspended messages or instances.
I have tried a repair and still get the same error message.

Any ideas, I need to uninstall so I can update my license file.

Thanks

This is an Issue with EIF. The Windows Trace Session Service actually locks the file.

What you can do is the following:

Disable the Windows Trace Session Service.
Reboot
Uninstall

Pieter, thanks for your response.

I have tried this and it doesn't seem to fix the issue.  I am still getting the same error message.

I disabled the Windows Trace Session Service and rebooted.  Tried to uninstall but still get the same error message.

I have tried rebooting 3 times and no luck.  The only thing I did notice was when I reboot the uninstaller freezes the first time I run it after a reboot.  I normally have to cancel and run again and then the uninstaller/installer works correctly.

Any other ideas?

Thanks

Pieter -> RE: Uninstall of SAP Adapter (28 March 2006)

This is simply a warning. It could be due to installstate files missing. You can safely ignore this error message.

Pieter -> RE: Uninstall of SAP Adapter (28 March 2006)

Did you delete any assemblies from the Bin Folder of the installation or the GAC?

You do not need to uninstall the Adapter in order to update your License, this can be done from the MMC Administration Snap-In.

lfbarbieri -> RE: Uninstall of SAP Adapter (28 March 2006)

No I had not deleted any files manually orginally.

But I cannot update license in MMC because the MMC tries to do an uninstall.

Anyways, I can't uninstall and I can't reinstall.

Is there a manual process to delete everything?

The only reason why the installer would kick off is when a vital file was removed or modified.

You can open the Zip File from which you installed.

Copy all of the Files contained in Module Retargetable Folder to your Bin Folder.

Uninstall.

saiweb -> RE: Uninstall of SAP Adapter (1 May 2008)

Hi I tried both the methods stoping Trace Session and copying files from regrettable folder to bin folder. Nothing works out. I am getting the same error while uninstalling repairing etc. Any insight is much appreciated.
Thanks

I'd recommend that you use something like MSIZAP to remove the installed application and then reinstalling it.

saiweb -> RE: Uninstall of SAP Adapter (9 May 2008)

Hi Pieter
Thank you very much for your response. I have found a long way to clean it. I had to uninstall all the services from the GAC and uninstall all the Services using  installutil /u that were installed by BTUtils and then Enterprise Instrumentation Framework. Rename EIF folder under Program Files to something else. Reboot the machine, Install EIF again, then BTUtils. These files or services you could see in the installLog file.

While installing again I noticed a folder called setup under the BTUtils installer. There you will see a command file and vbscript file Remove BizTalk Utilities Adapter for SAP.vbs and Remove BizTalk Utilities Adapter for SAP.cmd. Actually I ran the VBScript file to check and it actually uninstalled it.

Using Add/Remove Programs from Control panel was wrong at the first place. My bad, I should have checked the folder and documentation at the first place.

Yes you are right the Add/Remove Programs leaves some mess and MSIZAP actually cleans all those. That is also a simple way. But I strongly suggest anyone to uninstall and reinstall this, it would be nice to run Setup\Remove BizTalk Utilities Adapter for SAP.vbs file to have clean uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks again
