It`s been a while since my last post because my life has been more hectic than ever. I`m running on adrenaline right now so I thought I`d take advantage of it for a few posts.I had a great time at
Win-Dev 2004 last week in Boston. Not only did it give me a chance to hang out with some long-time friends, it also put me in the middle of the Red Sox frenzy, which was quite enjoyable. Everyone was talking about the Red Sox throughout the week, including Russian cab drivers who don`t know the meaning of "inning". The only downside to the show was the venue, which as
ChrisAn notes, was in the middle of no where making late night food acquisition a bit of a problem. For example, I arrived after midnight the first night and was extremely hungry (since the airlines don`t serve anything worth eating anymore). I asked the hotel if they had all-day/night room service. They said it closed at 11pm. I asked what time the main room service closed. They said 10pm. Go figure. They subsequently gave me the phone #`s to two nearby restaurants that deliver: pizza and chinese. I opted for pizza thinking it was the safer bet. After ordering a few items they said I hadn`t ordered "enough" for delivery - so I kept adding things until I apparently passed a threshold. Cost was no longer an issue. They said it would take 30 minutes. An hour went by still no food. Keith Brown dropped by to say hi and confessed that he had gone through the same ordeal a bit earlier. In fact, he had left-over chinese in his room. After another 30 minutes went by I assumed they had lost my order so I gulfed down Keith`s cold chinese - it actually wasn`t bad given my state. 15 minutes laterI hear a knock at my door Doh!As usual, the Win-Dev attendees were top-notch, full of thoughtful and interesting questions. It`s given me a lot to think about in the weeks ahead. More on that stuff later. The show also gave me a chance to try on some new material and concepts that I`ve been spending a lot of time with lately, which focused primarily on WSE2 bells and whistles, Whidbey ASMX, BizTalk Server 2004, and Indigo. I had a lot of good face time with
Fritz ,
Keith, and
Tim, pulling some late nighters getting ready for
Campsight next week. It was also good to see the usual Win-Dev suspects and the `softies including
Mark Fussell,
Matt Powell, and
Chris Anderson, whose
keynote I thoroughly enjoyed - it was the best motivation for rich client applications that I`ve heard to date. This show also marked a milestone for
Pluralsight - the first show we`ve officially sponsored.
