Beantown.NET This Thursday to Determine Course

Jason and I sent this out to the membership list yesterday:

Meeting to determine the future of the Beantown.net User Group Thursday, July 7, 2005 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Location: Adesso Systems, One Liberty Square, 7th Floor, Boston

The Beantown.Net user group is now a year old.  A lot has happened in the last year with the group and its members.  Our membership has grown to more than 100 members.  We have had some great speakers covering some great topics including:

• Sam Gentile – Introduction to CLR Internals, Advanced COM Interop with C#, Chalk Talk on Indigo
• Robert Hurlbut – Code Access Security in .Net
• Shawn Wildermuth –  ADO.Net Best Practices
• Christopher Bowen – Agile Development with .Net
• Juval Lowy - C# 2.0 Generics
• Phil Stanhope – Occasionally Connected Computing Architectures
• Steven Seymor – Advanced Control Development in .Net
• Richard Hale Shaw – Implementing Design Patterns in C#
• Michael Stiefel – Securing Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) with Microsoft’s WSE 2.0
• Jim Lennox – Loosely Coupled Messaging in SOA using WSE2.0

It is now time to address some of our growing pains and determine the group’s future direction.  In order to make this group the best it can be - EVERYTHING is up for discussion such as:

• Topics to focus on
• Speaker list for next year
• Format of the meetings
• Time of the meetings
• Additional things for the members like:
  • Book Reviews (free books)
  • Up-to-date Jobs listing on home site
  • Other ideas
• Pizza
• Web site
• Location of the meeting
• Whether to continue with the group or fold it into the Waltham User Group

We want all of our members to get involved in creating the vision for the future of the group.

The meeting is going to be this Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 5:30pm.  The location is Adesso Systems, One Liberty Square, Boston MA.
