At the N3UG meeting last night the new NYC.NJ Developer Evangelist, Peter Laudetti had a talk on Enterprise Library, and had mentioned the Guidance Automation Toolkit. I had mentioned that it hadn’t been released for Visual Studio 2005 RTM, but was due any day now. Little did I know that Tom Hollander was about to announce its release. Besides GAT for Visual Studio 2005 RTM, Tom also announced a new paper, Scenarios, Patterns, and Implementation Guidance for Web Services Enhancements (WSE) 3.0, the Composite UI Application Block (which we also discussed at the meeting), and another paper, Upgrading Visual Basic 6.0 Applications to Visual Basic .NET and Visual Basic 2005. These are all things that you should check out.
At the meeting I noted that I will be speaking at the Feb. 2006 meeting, and I still hadn’t decided what the topic should be on. With the feedback I received on Guidance Automation Toolkit, it looks like folks would like to hear about that. Plus, I really want to write up a talk on GAT so I can use it for the Code Camps in the Northeast over the next year, so this will give me a good excuse to get it ready and then demo it to my home crowd. Steven Forte is doing Design Patterns in ASP.Net 2.0 for the Jan. meeting, and Kent Brown is going to talk about either Biztalk or WSE 3.0 in March, so this talk would fit in pretty well.
