of 124 | BizTalk R2 RFID and working with a real Reader Device (Phidget) - This entry discusses using a real RFID reader (Phidget) with BizTalk 2006 R2 RFID Beta 2. There are a couple of RFID samples provided with the RFID install, but they involve simulators for RFID devices. If you want to try a real RFID reader sample with BizTalk 2006 R2 RFID, read below.Jim Bowyer, a Senior Technical Specialist for Microsoft based in Calgary, sent out a short note about an inexpensive RFID reader that has a community DSPI (Device Service Provider Interface)  for BizTalk R2 RFID. So I ordered the RFID reader, downloaded the DSPI and then tried against my BizTalk 2006 R2 RFID Beta 2 installation. If you want to try yourself, perform the following steps: 1) If not al......

of 124 | Learning WCF: A Hands-On Guide - Well Learning WCF: A Hands-on Guide has finally made it to the shelves at Amazon.  This book was highly recommended me while I was attending the BizTalk 2006 R2 Jumpstart Training back in March. I have been awaiting it's arrival since then so you would not believe my excitement when I saw it at the TechED Store here in Orlando. I am just starting reading it and so far it has been well worth the wait. ...

The change has been made to align with Microsoft’s actionable Real World SOA story. We want to emphasize that SOA is an approach rather than a point product however SOA can be pursued quite effectively using the entire range of technologies and products of the Connected Systems Division.   ·         The SOA and Web Services track objective is to bring participants up to speed with the latest developments in service commun......

of 124 | Hidden Gem in BizTalk 2006 R2 - Howdy everyone,    So first off, I should probably say that my posts might be a bit more far and few between (not that they are all that often as it stands :). A long time co-worker, Kartik, will probably be manning the ship on the blog as I have decided to expand my skills a bit and work on SQL Server Analysis Services. Figured I had been helping people build the processes which actually executed their business logic, now I wanted a bit more experience with the tools they use to analyze what exactly they have been doing at their business. This blog, though, will remain a BizTalk blog since it was never meant to be "my" blog ... just look at the name. Okay, enough of that. :) &n......

of 124 | BizTalk Server 2006 R2 and WCF Integration - These are just some of the tabs that can be found if you expose a Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 process via a Windows Communication Foundation (WCF, previously - Indigo) Service. The interesting part of the Messaging Tab of BizTalk 2006 R2 is that you are able to dictate the source of the inbound message body that you would like BizTalk to handle. You can specify it to be the entire <soap:Envelope> or just the <soap:Body>, which essentially strips out the <soap:Header> element from the entire envelope. The flexibility comes in when you can dictate and customize the message content via an XPath expression that you would like BizTalk......

of 124 | Microsoft SOA & Business Process Conference 2006... - Update: The tracking query as a TRQ file is available here, per a comment on this post. I just got back from a week at the "Microsoft SOA & Business Process" conference in Redmond.  Lots of discussion on BizTalk 2006 R2, the new .NET Adapter Framework, Windows Communication Foundation (WCF), Windows Workflow (WF), Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2007 (MOSS).  Great stuff. I did a session at the conference on Friday titled "Applying Maximum Sustainable Throughput to a Management/Operations Strategy".  (OK, the title may have scared a few people off...) The content was an extension of what I presented to the Twin Cities BizTalk User Group in September......
