of 1205 | Enhancing the interface for the WSS Adapter Properties - Adrian Hamza has created a nifty enhancement to the WSS Adapter Properties screen. The WssAdapterBrowseUI.dll modifies the default WSS Adapter UI so that instead of typing the names and URLs of SharePoint document libraries, lists, or columns you will be presented with a list view/tree view from where you can select the appropriate SharePoint object. Make sure to check out some of the other great content that Adrian has on his Windows SharePoint Services Adapter blog. Among other things, check out: BizTalk 2006 native WSS Adapter vs GotDotNet WSS Adapter - Features Overview Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Webcasts  Configuring Windows SharePoint Services on 64 bit machines/OS...

of 1205 | Adding Browse UI to BT'06 WSS adapter - The WssAdapterBrowseUI.dll modifies the default WSS Adapter UI so that instead of typing the names and URLs of SharePoint document libraries, lists, or columns you will be presented with a list view/tree view from where you can select the appropriate SharePoint object. The friendly names/titles of SharePoint objects are being shown but the UI is filled with the appropriate value (document library relative URL, document library title, column title, etc). This component does not validate that values entered manually are correct. Left image above is the original WSS UI included in BizTalk 2006. Right image above, is the modified WSS UI that includes browse SharePoint site functionality. The ......

of 1205 | Problem when configuring WSS 2003 with SP2 to run on top of .Net Framework 1.1 and then upgrading to .Net Framework 2.0 - A few users have reported this configuration issue when trying to install and configure BizTalk 2006 with Windows SharePoint Services adapter. BizTalk 2006 native adapter for Windows SharePoint Services requires .Net Framework 2.0 but most of the users don't realize this until they try to configure the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service feature of BizTalk 2006. At that point, in many cases, Windows SharePoint Services has already been configured to run on top of .Net Framework 1.1 so the following error is visible in BizTalk configuration Web site is not configured to use .Net Framework 2.0 Changing the ASP.NET version on IIS site to be 2.0 instead of 1.1 causes Windows S......

of 1205 | Some musings on JCA (Java Connector Architecture) by Lucas Jellema - J2EE contains a plethora of API definitions. From the Servlet API to the EJB API, from JMX to JMS. One of the APIs that I have had very little exposure to is the JCA or J2EE Connector Architecture. I have seen it mentioned, not too frequently. Usually in conjunction with EIS (Enterprise Information System) and Integration. Clearly JCA has to do with connecting systems in a standardized way. So I decided to take a closer look - I felt a little left out. And you know, walking into a discussion of J2EE gurus and missing out on the acronyms does not do wonders for your self confidence.Post comment (0)...

of 1205 | “Completed with Discarded Message” and Sequential Convoy - At my client, we developed an orchestration that uses the Sequential Convoy pattern to handle message ordering and message reprocessing, in case of failures.  When a failure occurs, the original message is sent through an error reprocessing port to file location via the File Adapter and the orchestration enters a “Suspended” state.  When a message is received that is associated with an orchestration instance in an active convoy and that orchestration is in the “Suspended” state, the message is sent to another file location.  This pattern maintains message ordering when recovering from failures.   The problem was that on occasion orchestration instances were ending up i......

I also am solicting feedback on existing documenation from anyone who has struggled trying to understand this simple differentiation that is often somewhat confusing how it is written. You talk about several differences between the Large API, and the normal API of the message queue. The Large API is documented, if yes do can you send me a link to it, if it is available of course ? Yes, see BizTalk docs on MSMQT adapter. It's actually very simple and almost identical to MSMQ API. Also, there is the sample in SDK. One last question, if I understant what I've read when using this API the limit is the physical memory of the machine that is sending the messages ? That's correct, but realize that memory is also used by other programs and OS, so......

of 1205 | So it's official it is "Office 2007" - The part that I have been itching to talk about...  Is the unveiling of Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007 and Microsoft Expression Web Designer. Yeah I know I've talked about Expression Web Developer (EWD) quite a bit now... but what I haven't done is compare EWD to Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007. For those of you that have been enrolled in the early beta of Office you will have noticed a mix between the use of the term Frontpage and Microsoft Office SharePoint Designer 2007. This is because Frontpage is being replaced! Both EWD and SharePoint Designer share a core code base that is based on FrontPage but IMHO improves the experience ten-fold! I have been experime......

of 1205 | Gotcha When Programatically Sending Email to BizTalk - So here's an obscure one, but odds are it'll help some poor sap a year from now. I was programmatically sending an email message (plus attachment) to a mailbox polled by a BizTalk POP3 receive adapter. I was able to process it fine, and read all the necessary context information from inside an orchestration using an expression such as ... MessageSubject = Message_1(POP3.Subject); Nothing too fancy there. However, I should also be able to get information about the attachment itself, which wasn't coming through. For instance, I wanted to get the actual name of the file attached, and should be able to access it by doing this ... MessageFileName = Message_1.Attach(MIME.FileName);......

of 1205 | Great ASP.NET 2.0 Site Navigation Tutorial Series - Scott Mitchell has written a really great tutorial series on the new ASP.NET 2.0 Site Navigation system and features.  He recently published Part 3 of the series, which discusses the "SecurityTrimming" feature new to ASP.NET 2.0 that allows you to automatically show/hide nodes within the site navigation hierarchy based on the current Authentication and Role status of an incoming user (for example: you could hide portions of a menu automatically if the current user isn't in an "Admin" role). Part 4 of the series talks about building a custom site map provider.  In case you missed my post from last-month, you might also want to check out Jeff Prosise's cool new SQL Site Map Pr......

of 1205 | Validate XML using RELAX NG and JAXP 1.3 - RELAX NG is a schema language for XML. It allows you to describe a structure of XML in a way much easier to read/write than W3C XML Schema, and it can be useful both for humans (to understand what XML is OK) and for programs (to mechanically determine if an XML is OK or not.) Historically many good RELAX NG validators, like MSV or Jing, has been available through another validation API called JARV, which predates JAXP 1.3. But since now JAXP 1.3 is available widely (in particular it's in J2SE 5.0), it would be really nice if one can use them through JAXP 1.3 validation API. So I wrote a little adapter layer so that I can use validators written for JARV through JAXP 1.3. Post comment (1)...

of 1205 | Connecting ColdFusion MX 7 To 64-bit IIS 6 - First of all, no, ColdFusion is not yet supported on 64-bit Windows. And I don't have a date for when it will be. But, ColdFusion MX 7 can indeed run on 64-bit Windows (I have been doing so for a long time now). The trickier part is getting ColdFusion to talk to 64-bit IIS 6 (which by default only talks to 64-bit apps and connectors). A Microsoft document entitled Configuring IIS to Run 32-bit Applications on 64-bit Windows (IIS 6.0) explains that Windows Server 2003, SP1 enables IIS 6 to run 32-bit Web applications on 64-bit Windows using WOW64 (the...

of 1205 | BizTalk Server 2006 POP3 Adapter Usage - Spent a bit of time recently with the new POP3 adapter for BizTalk, and wanted to share some notes and screenshots. I currently have a BizTalk solution that I've built on a VM for use in customer demos. I decided to add a POP3 receive location to an existing port to see if I could use the same pipeline and architecture even when receiving email. So, first I added the new receive location ... Next, I configured the adapter. Few notes. The Apply MIME Decoding is great since you don't have to use a pipeline to split the message up into parts. Also, it throws a bunch of email-related fields into the context properties (see below for a screenshot). In my case, my attachme......
