Overview

This class is used to retrieve exception information about the last XML-related exception to occur. It can be incorporated into the Try/Catch block of any routine that uses System.Xml classes. By adding a separate Catch construct for XMLExceptions, you can insert exception handling routines that deal specifically with XML parsing and processing runtime errors.

Example (VB.NET): How to display error message information using XmlException.Source, XmlExcpetion.LineNumber, and XmlException.Message properties.

The following code snippet can be used to supplement a routine using System.Xml classes to process XML data. Insert this code within a Try/Catch block, and raise an XML-related error to test it.

        Try

                ....

                ....

                ....

        Catch objXmlException As System.Xml.XmlException

            strValues = "XmlException Source: " & objXmlException.Source & CrLf

            strValues &= "XmlException LineNumber: " & objXmlException.LineNumber & CrLf

            strValues &= "XmlException Message: " & objXmlException.Message

        End Try

        TextBox1.Text = strValues
