I am the creator of TopXML. I am available for international and local (Australia) contracts. I am a Solution Architect/Business Analyst. I have worked in IT in several countries (NZ, Australia, South Africa, UK) building and training teams for government and very large non-governmental organizations. I am ex-Microsoft Consulting Services. I wrote the first book on Microsoft XML published in 2000 called XML Programming with VB and ASP. Most recently I have been building tools for the SEO industry. The <frame> Tag (XHTML Reference)

Introduction

With the help of the <frame> tag you can divide your browser in sub windows. The frame tag can be only used inside a <frameset> tag.

Example

<frameset rows="50%,50%">

  <frame src ="http://www.topxml.com/" />

  <frame src ="http://www.topxml.com/articles/default.asp" />

</frameset>

Output

In the above example I have created two <frame> tags inside the frameset tag. In the <frame> tags I have defined two different URLs, therefore the 1st frame loads the default homepage of TopXML and  the 2nd loads the articles page.

Attributes

Name:

Description:

frameborder

With that option you can set whether the frame border should be visible or not. To set the border you have to choose one of the following options:

1 = TRUE (Default)

0 = FALSE

longdesc

Here you set a URL which contains a description of the frame contents.

marginwidth

The distance in pixel to the left frame content and right border.

marginheight

The distance in pixel to the top frame content and bottom border.

name

Name of the frame. Can be useful if you want to access it via any script language.

noresize

This is an empty attribute. If you specify this then the user won’t be able to resize the frames.

scrolling

This allows the user to scroll the content if it is too large. You have the following options:

Yes

No

Auto

src

Defines the URL to be loaded in the frame as used in the above example.
